Mrs. Cavness, the teacher who runs Key Club

Key Club is a great club to join if you are looking for some extra volunteer hours. This club provides many volunteering opportunities with great causes for just a small fee. Mrs. Cavness is the teacher who has been in charge of this club, and is leading it again this year. We asked her a few questions to get some insight on Key Club.

What is the goal of the key club this year?

The goal of the Key Club is to provide service to the community around us. This year we are specifically helping with children and food inequalities. We will also focus on volunteering at a few races to help those with Alzheimer’s.

Who are the leaders of the Key Club?

Ariana Petrovic is the president, Hannah Raymundo is the secretary, Hunter Lund is the vice president, Kaleigh Kouloheras and Morgan Zolna work on the instagram and sharing of information, and Adrian Jerez is the secretary.

When does Key Club meet?

Key club meets every other Tuesday in the media center.

What future events is Key Club planning?

This Saturday Key Club will be volunteering at RSW to meet and greet the veterans who are returning from Honor Flight 25. There will be about 10 students going, and many students have worked on making posters to greet the veterans with. There will also be another Meals of Hope coming, and another Habitat for Humanity planned.

What has been your favorite volunteer experience of Key Club?

My favorite Key Club event has probably been Meals of Hope, because there are so many kids together, working for the common good, and you get to see the results right away.

How many students are in Key Club?

I think we’ll end up with 150 students by the end of the year.

If you’re interested in joining key club you can send an email to Mrs. Cavness, or meet her after school in her room to get the link.

Hi, I’m Abby Augustine and I’m a junior at St. John Neumann. It’s my second year here, and I’m excited to be back after going to a different school last year. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going to the beach, golfing, and traveling. I’m looking forward to being involved in the golf team as well as other clubs.
