In Stereo: The Beatles

Did you know the first words of the lyrics to “Yesterday” by The Beatles were scrambled eggs? The song was originally titled “Scrambled Eggs” until Paul McCartney could form his ideas into words. He woke up one morning, and as one does, he conjured up some temporary lyrics so he could remember his dream melody – in this case, “Scrambled Eggs”. After thinking about what he wanted for his song, he brought about the lyrics for “Yesterday.”

In addition, the song “Hey Jude” was originally named “Hey Jules.”  According to facts.net., Paul McCartney wrote it for John Lennon’s son, Julian. After John Lennon ended his marriage with Cynthia Powell Lennon, Paul McCartney was concerned with how this would affect the son, Julian. He visited Julian a month after the separation and sang “Hey Jude” on his way there. Paul McCartney wrote it to comfort Julian, but changed the title to “Hey Jude” simply because it sounded better.

The Beatles stopped doing live performances because of their fans. They made this decision for many reasons, such as exhaustion, sound quality, and their fans. As the fans increased, the noise at their concerts would also increase, completely drowning out the sound of their music. There were also many threats to the band’s safety, which concluded their live performances.
