We have one more teacher that is new to the Neumann family, and that is Ms. Ribinski! Ms. Ribinski teaches the sophomore geometry class as well as honors geometry. Ms. Ribinski has been teaching for 31 years. She has taught health, science, and a class that is similar to Neumann’s learning strategies class, where students are able to receive academic support.
I asked Ms. Ribinski why she believes math is important for students to learn. She said that the reason being is because we use math in everyday life, in cooking and baking, and in whatever job you choose to have. She also believes that it is overall a very important skill to have.
Ms. Ribinski went to school to be a health teacher but was taking the required math classes you need to take in order to become a math teacher. By the time she got to teaching high school, she decided to teach math instead.
When I asked her what she does if she sees a student struggling in her class, she said that she would offer to work one on one with them to see where the student is getting confused. She also offers help on any topic that the student has learned.
Finally, I inquired about whether she was excited to be teaching at Neumann. She told me that she is very happy to be teaching at Neumann. She loves the family aspect that the school has both among the faculty and among the students. Ms. Ribinski is very excited to meet some of the parents at the upcoming parent teacher night on Wednesday.
