PDQ and Chick-fil-A both have similar takes on various chicken-based dishes. Both of these companies serve a wide variety of fast food meals such as sandwiches, salads, French fries, and more. While they both offer many similar options, today we are going to take a closer look at both companies’ takes on chicken nuggets, so let’s compare!
PDQ, which stands for “pretty darn quick,” sells their chicken nuggets in various sizes. With two sizes to choose from, an 8 piece is typically $7.69, and approximately 360 calories, and a 12 piece which typically costs $9.68, and is 420 calories. Those are some pricey nuggets! However you can order a combo meal which comes with a side of fries, a fountain drink, and a slice of garlic bread. When ordering a combo meal, the prices range from $11.69 to $13.69. You can also choose to toss your nuggets in a sauce of your choosing, but these add $1.00 to your order, along with an extra $0.99 per dipping sauce. I ordered an 8 piece of PDQ’s Crispy Nuggets with ketchup, so my total came out to $8.68. When I took my first bite into the nugget, I clearly remembered the amazing crunch, it made an audible noise. The flavor was regular because I didn’t toss it in any sauce, but it was just so crunchy. I do remember when biting into it, grease ran down my fingers, so I realized they definitely use a lot of grease, but in the end, I really liked these nuggets. Although they were good, they were pricey so I would have to give PDQ’s nuggets a 7/10.
Chick-fil-A also offers chicken nuggets sold in various sizes. The sizes include an 8 count which is $8.99 and has 250 calories, or a 12 count, which is $10.85 and has 380 calories. These prices are already more expensive than PDQ’s nugget prices, however Chick-fil-A’s calorie count is lower. Just like PDQ, Chick-fil-A offers combo meals where you can get a side of French fries, either medium or large, with a drink. When ordering as a meal, the 8 count costs $9.45, and the 12 count costs $11.31. You can choose any dipping sauces for no price. I ordered an 8 piece of Chick-fil-A’s nuggets with ketchup and Chick-fil-A sauce, so my total came out to $8.99. My first bite was amazing, the juiciness of the nugget filled my mouth with flavor. The Chick-fil-A sauce mixed with the nuggets were amazing and of course the ketchup as well. The nuggets have such a crunchy outside but tender inside which makes such a good sensation. I would have to rate Chick-fil-A’s nuggets an 8/10.
So overall, I would say both restaurants’ takes on chicken nuggets are very similar. Honestly, it was a tough one because they both offer such good, tender nuggets. Considering the prices, PDQ is a little bit cheaper but the fact that you have to pay $.99 for a dipping sauce really threw me off. I think in the end I would have to give today’s win to Chick-fil-A, the free sauces honestly won me over. So, Chick-fil-A is going to take the win for today’s Dish Duels!
