On October 31, excited kids from St. Elizabeth Seton came to St. John Neumann to get some treats and to have fun. Seniors got the chance to walk the little kids through all the school’s classrooms. Even the teachers got to participate by handing the children candy. The other Neumann students were also excited to see the children walk around.
How many children came from Seton?
There were plenty of children from PreK-4 to first graders. There were about 100 students that came over for the treats.
What makes you excited to walk the children around in the future?
Many students were excited seeing all the children in the costumes getting candy. A few students spoke about how they could not wait to walk the children. Tavish Datadien, a freshman, said, “Seeing all the children rushing from classroom to classroom makes me so happy and eager to walk a future buddy around.” He may only be a freshman right now but seeing the children brings so much joy.
What did you enjoy most about the Seton kids coming over to SJN?
Teachers from all the classrooms were able to pass out candy to the children walking by. Mr. Cantwell, a theology teacher, elaborated how he felt when he was handing treats to the children: “They are so free and they just bring joy to the school. I love how the seniors come down and walk them around.” He loves how the children are so innocent and are stress free when walking in their costumes.
How was your experience with the kids?
Plenty of Seniors had a chance to walk their small buddies around and enjoy their presence. Sophie Becker, a Senior, talked about her experience seeing the Seton kids walk around. She said, “They were really sweet kids” and she talked about how she got to walk around watching the kids receiving their candy.
Is it a good tradition to continue?
Many Seniors enjoy the ongoing tradition of having the Setonstudents visit Neumann. Becker said, “I am happy it is a tradition Neumann keeps doing every year.” It is a great way to make the children have an even brighter day. Having Seniors walk children around the school is also a great way to inspire them to one day join the school and walk future Seton students to give them treats.
The yearly tradition of welcoming Seton students to Neumann is a highlight for both the kids and the school. Seeing the younger students in their costumes and the excitement from the seniors and teachers makes everyone joyful. As the Seniors walk the kids around, they help make lasting memories and inspire them to one day walk future kids.
