Cry of the Poor
Neumann’s Theme of the Month for October was “Cry of the Poor.” This theme focuses on how our love is tested when we encounter people who need our help the most. October was a month in which we encountered people in our community and beyond, who truly needed help. The aftermath of Hurricane Ian left many people in dire situations. Thankfully, as a community we were able to reach out and support those in need by participating in Catholic Charities’ distribution of Hurricane Relief supplies, supporting students and staff members who were severely affected by Ian, conducting a school wide Relief Supply Collection, and more. Mother Theresa said, “When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.” When people around us are suffering, it is the responsibility of us all to do what we can to ease that suffering. We had the opportunity to live that truth this month.
