Issa is a senior at Nuemann, and is a part of the cross country and basketball teams. Issa is originally from Africa, where he used to teach children basketball, English, and math. He is now at Neumann pursuing his dream to play basketball in America.
What was moving countries like? Is it a difficult adjustment?
Issa told me it’s hard since the culture is very different. “Where I live everyone played outside together, but here people stay home more.”
Who is your biggest inspiration? Who motivates you?
Issa told me his biggest inspiration is his Dad, and also his childhood and background. Seeing people suffer inspires and motivates him to help.
How do you like Neumann?
“I like this school!” Issa told me. He said he has been to three different schools, but he likes Neumann because the teachers here care about the students and you can always get help if you need it. He also said the school is helping his faith grow.
What or who do you miss the most from your hometown?
Issa told me he misses his mom the most. He said it’s hard to keep in touch all the time because of the time difference, but they can sometimes call each other on the weekends.
It was great to interview Issa. You can see him representing Neumann this basketball season!
