Team Captain Mylee, was very happy to share how the meet went! Here is what she said!
How did the meet go? How did it set the tone for the rest of the season?
Van de Wouw said that despite the fact that they did not have an official meet for three weeks, the meet this past Saturday went amazingly. They had several personal records, and for the first time in many years they had four players from the boys’ team break a 19 minute run pace. With these and many other amazing accomplishments the team did very well at the meet.
What are a few things you believe the team could work on before the next meet?
Van de Wouw said that with the challenges the next meet holds, the team has to keep their heads up and understand that every meet will not be perfect. She also said that the team can’t get stuck in their heads and have to learn the challenges of the course.
Now that you are one of the captains this year, how are you going to push the team to possibly make it further than last year?
Van de Wouw said that she and her fellow captains agree that the team has started the season doing very well. The team made it to States last year, and she hopes to push the team to States again this year, hopefully with even faster times.
Were you proud of how the team did at the meet? Why?
Van de Wouw is very proud of both the boys’ and girls’ teams. She said they both put in amazing efforts this past weekend, despite the course being very fast. She believes that it sets the way for States.
What are some things you’re looking forward to in this season?
Some of the things she is looking forward to are making memories with the team and striving for success at Districts, Regionals and States.
Mylee is very excited for the rest of the season, and very hopeful that the team will push themselves for a better season!
