The year’s House Retreat is possibly the best one yet! The House Retreat includes 4 houses which are, Raley, Mazzarello, Devereux, and Desales. The Desales House captain, Marianna Pelissier, and two new students Grace Chambers and Kaelan Nunez were amused with the high spirits from this day.
How do you think the House Retreats makes us closer as a school?
Pelissier shared that the House Retreats are a great way to have fun, get involved, and unwind. This helps us be ourselves and it lets our playful sides come out. As the incoming and transfer students are new to the school, the house retreat shows them what St. John Neumann is like and how we are all one big family. It guides them to get to know one another and find their place here at Neumann.
How do you think this House Retreat was different from the other years?
Pelissier shared that this year the captains tried to come up with new ideas and themes so more people participated. They also wanted new activities to get people more excited, and to be different from last year. Some examples of things they have changed are: the way people found out the houses they were in, the introductions for the houses, all the decorations and props, and more! They thought this would make everyone feel more welcomed and have even more fun!
What was your favorite part about the House Retreat, why?
Chambers shared that the reveal and chant off with their houses were most people’s favorite. They loved when all the houses came together bringing a bunch of good energy and playfulness. Another one of their most loved parts is how all the houses were introduced with everyone decked out and all their fun music playlists.
Why do you think we do House Retreats?
One of the freshmen Nunez said, “High school is one of the most difficult parts of life, trying to find where you fit in, and which people you get along with. It’s the last 4 years until you head to college. So, the reason why I think this school does House Retreats, is to help incoming freshmen and transfers find their place in St. John Neumann High School. This can help people get to know others and talk to people they normally wouldn’t talk to.”
