Pearl Jam was first formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. The lineup consisted of bass guitarist, Jeff Ament, rhythm guitarist, Stone Gossard, lead guitarist, Mike McCready, drummer, Matt Cameron, and lead vocalist and guitarist, Eddie Vedder. Pearl Jam is considered one of the most influential bands from that decade and the most popular American rock and roll band of the 90’s. Pearl Jam broke into the mainstream with their debut album, “Ten,” in 1991. Since then it has gone on to become one of the highest selling albums sold in the first week. Ten produced the singles, “Alive,” “Even Flow,” and “Jeremy.” “Ten” stayed on the Billboard charts for five years, going 13x platinum.
After releasing “Ten,” Pearl Jam’s audience continued to grow in 1992. The album, “Temple of the Dog,” became a platinum selling hit. While this was happening, Gossard worked on a side project called “Brad,” which was released in their album, “Shame” in 1993. In the summer of 1996, Pearl Jam released their fourth album, “No Code”. Although it gained positive reviews, it dissatisfied a large portion of their fans. After this, they had many other albums which succeeded and some failed. That didn’t prevent Pearl Jam from continuing to play, and to this day, the band still releases music and new albums as an influence and a source of music history.
